Benjamin Bazan
Sibling Renewal
Ben is a 2nd year Jeremy Cares Scholarship recipient. He is studying civil engineering at The Ohio State University. He has been spending his time as a volunteer at robotics competitions at his high school when he is not working. He has also maintained a standing on the Dean’s List.
When asked how the pandemic has affected him, this was Ben’s responcse:
“Over the past 2 years, the COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed events and people’s lives. More specifically, my life has changed and maybe not for the better. First, some events that were very important to me were cancelled or pushed back shorting the season. These things happened for many students that were in high school athletics or competitive clubs, especially when the pandemic first started. Kids worked so hard in their events, then for them just get cancelled when the big events happened. For me, it was right before the world championship for VEX robotics. Then my whole senior year was a mess from changing from in person schooling to online, then to go back in person at the height of the pandemic, then again VEX being pushed back a couple of months to world’s being cancelled again. At all of these competitions, every person in them learns various skills because they are meeting people from different places, and in some cases around the world, but now they can’t learn and have these cool experiences. Some ways that COVID-19 has changed me, is that I learned that you cannot always rely on others because they may not be there when you need them. My plans for the future haven't changed much because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The only slight change in my plans for my future would be to have a backup plan just in case you can't finish something or have to change because something unexpected happened. “
Best of luck n all you do Ben!
